Service Dogs, Therapy Dogs and Emotional Support Animals

Service Dogs, Therapy Dogs and Emotional Support Animals all provide very important services - but they are VERY different!

If you are interested in visiting others with your dog to brighten their day and have some fun - that's a Therapy Dog!

If your dog comforts you just by being there, and helps you get through the day - that's an Emotional Support Dog!

If your dog provides specific skills that are trained to assist you with every days tasks, that you could not do without - that's a Service Dog!

If you just want to "certify" your dog for service so you can take him with you anywhere - that is NOT a valid service dog and is illegal in most states!

Service Dogs

International Assoc. of
Assistance Dog Partners (IAADP)
(Provider Member)

Service dogs come in all shapes and sizes; depending on the service they are providing. Large dogs are often used for mobility tasks, small dogs are often preferred for hearing assist and medical alert. Although Service dogs can be any breed with suitable temperaments, there are definitely pros and cons to think about when selecting your pup.

We have partnered with Fired Up! Dog Training to offer Service Dog programs. Owned by Ariel, who also teaches for us, Fired Up! specializes in task training, and helping people reach their service dog goals.

For Service Dog questions, feel free to email Ariel: [email protected].

** At this time - we are not accepting any new applicants for LEAP. However, we would be happy to help you prepare for testing through another organization. There are several we can recommend depending on your focus area. **

Take A LEAP with REACH! - Animals Learning, Empowering and Assisting People

It’s well-known (and scientifically proven) that interaction with a gentle, friendly pet has significant benefits; both mentally and physically. Our animals and their handlers have undergone special training to help them learn how to support and encourage others. If you are interested in attending a class with your pet; or you would like to arrange a visit from one of our qualified teams; please contact us.

Remembering Chance

Chance was a world class therapy dog that was tragically lost on April 2, 2022. He served in the Courthouse assisting victims and bringing comfort while they testified and after their cases. He was amazing at his job, especially with children.

To honor his legacy, we have set up a scholarship to assist with costs associated with therapy dog training. The application is simple. Just send us an email and tell us a little bit about you and your dog, where you are with your training, why you want to do therapy work, and why you deserve a scholarship.

Awards will be granted on a case by case basis. In most cases, it will cover the cost of 6-10 weeks of group classes.
