Many people have concerns about these slithering encounters. While many dogs demonstrate a natural aversion to snakes, there are some that would rather get a bit too close. The traditional methods of teaching snake avoidance use pain and fear in an attempt to instill the flight response in the dog; the problem with fear is its very unpredictable. Sure- some dogs may choose to flee, but others freeze in place, and others choose to fight. Both these choices place the dog in even more danger! The other problem with the traditional methods is the treatment of the snakes; regardless of how you feel about these little critters - they don't deserve to be hurt either! The act of learning should not be painful for anyone! Our program uses games to teach a conditioned, predicted response (When you see X - you do Y.... When you hear a rattle, you run to me. When you see a snake, you run to heel). It is a safe, fun way to teach your dog how to respond in any given situation.
There MAY BE LIVE SNAKES in this class!!
